Rev. Tom Berlin’s eNote: February 28, 2019
I have been receiving a lot of emails and text messages over the past several days. Many of them are simply messages of support and encouragement, but some people are expressing their frustration. You are frustrated on behalf of your friends and family members who are in the LGBTQ community. I am also aware that some of our members are in the LGBTQ community, and they have to be frustrated and hurting too.
On Saturday, 1-3 p.m., I will have office hours, and if a few of you show up, I’d love to have a conversation. If a small group shows up, we will go out into the Gathering Space. On Sunday, I will be talking about the General Conference in my sermon. It’s not going to be a report, but a reflection on who we want to be as a church, and how this decision doesn’t really change that for us. I haven’t yet written that sermon, so I’m not sure what it’s going to say, but I’m looking forward to writing that sermon. I’m inviting you to make Sunday a priority, so we can be together and have that conversation.
On Sunday evening, 6:30 p.m., I will be having an informational session. This will be a time for a report, so you have a better understanding of what changed and what didn’t change. Come and be a part of this weekend, and let’s have a conversation about what’s next.
